The questions every owner-operator asks before signing with a dispatcher. Straight answers.
Do I need my own MC and DOT to work with Ironway?
Yes. As a dispatcher, we book freight on your authority. You need active MC and DOT numbers in good standing, along with $1M auto liability and at least $100,000 in cargo coverage. If you're still getting your authority, we can talk once it's active.
How is the 7% calculated and when do I pay?
7% of gross revenue per load — calculated on the full broker rate. Payment is due within 48 hours of you receiving broker settlement. ACH, check, or wire. No retainer, no monthly minimum, no load-no-fee.
Can you really book loads for a non-CDL 26ft box truck?
Yes. Non-CDL 26ft box trucks under 26,001 lbs GVWR move a huge amount of freight — expedited, residential, final-mile, and white-glove work. These lanes often pay more per mile than traditional dry van freight. Liftgate equipped trucks open even more opportunities.
Do I have to accept every load you send?
Never. You approve every load before we book. You see the rate, the lane, the pickup and delivery details, and the broker — and you say yes or no. No forced dispatch, ever.
What happens if a broker doesn't pay?
We vet brokers before booking and prioritize quick-pay programs when available. If a broker fails to pay, the invoice dispute runs between you and the broker — we help with documentation and broker escalation. Dispatcher fees are due only after you're paid.
Is there a contract? How do I cancel?
Service agreement runs month-to-month. Either party can cancel with 30 days' written notice — email works. No cancellation fees, no penalties, no termination clauses designed to trap you.
How fast can I start running loads?
48 hours from the time we receive a complete application. Signed agreement, COI verified, W-9 received, broker packets prepped — then we're booking. Carriers with clean authority and ready paperwork often move the first load in 72 hours.
Do you work with factoring companies?
We work with carriers who factor, but we prefer brokers offering quick-pay (2–3 day payment for a 2–3% discount) — it keeps more money in your pocket and keeps the dispatch workflow clean. If you factor, send us your Notice of Assignment and we'll handle broker setup accordingly.
